So I've been using my iMac as an HTPC with a TV for a 2nd monitor to view content for quite some time. However, after a recent move, I was left with a large space and no TV. I got my hands on an Infocus IN36 projector to see how I felt about a projector in the space instead of a TV.
After reviewing the included inputs, I ordered a 25ft (for some extra leeway in placement) M1 to DVI cable. I hooked it all up last night using a DVI to Mini-DVI adapter to connect to the iMac, but I was unable to get a signal through. The computer simply didn't recognize the projector as a display.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why? I've read that the cable may simply be too long to support the signal. I'm going to try again tonight with a VGA cable (didn't have the VGA to Mini-DVI adapter at the time) to see if it works with a shorter cable, but any ideas would be helpful.
