Hi all, I have a question for those who know Mac networking better than I do. I have my iMac upstairs in wireless to my airport Extreme downstairs. I had my Synology NAS downstairs hardwired to the router, but performance on Handbrake was horrible due to the video_ts folders being on the NAS. I wan to copy the data from the NAS to an external hdd on the iMac, but the wireless throughput will cause the copy to take forever. Can I hook the NAS into the ethernet port on the iMac and copy that way? Ultimately I want to move all of my ripped movies to an external on the iMac for speed of access, and probably will sell the NAS.

I tried briefly last night with no success. I tried enabling internet sharing from wifi->ethernet (it seems this is the only way to get the iMac to enable its DHCP server) but the NAS could never be found by the Synology utility.I tried disabling internet sharing and hooked a router between the iMac ethernet port and the NAS to provide DHCP and it seemed to work to discover the NAS but the web browser then would not work. Any ideas?
