Hi, I am going to buy a Mac this Fall, and I need a computer that will fit my needs, but I don't need too much. I have lots of music, and I am a videographer. I was planning to get the computer in my description (buying it from :apple: with 1GB of RAM but buying 4GB from Crucial.) I was also thinking of getting a 2.4 GHz Macbook with a 250 GB HD and maybe extending the RAM. What should I choose?

New: iMac or Refurb Mac Pro?

Refurbished Mac Pro Quad 2.0GHz Intel Xeon
Two 2.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors
1GB (2 x 512MB) memory (667MHz DDR2 fully-buffered DIMM ECC)
250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7200 rpm hard drive
16x SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics with 256MB memory

$1,599.00

-or-

Refurbished iMac 24-inch 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme
24-inch glossy widescreen display
2GB memory
500GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory
Built-in iSight Camera

$1,599.00

the iMac would be cheaper because you'll have to shell out for a display if you get the mac pro and that drives the price right up.

However, it'll definitely be more future proof than the iMac.

Get the MacBook and a nice monitor and you can have the best of both worlds. I have been using my MBP with a Dell 20" LCD for over a year now just like that. When I go on vacation, I unplug it and off I go.
