Pricing on a 21.5" imac with i7, 8GB, 1TB Fusion is $1,950

Similar mac mini is $1,300 (with keyboard and trackpad). Decent 23" monitor is $250. Net price is $1,550.

Save $400 and get the mini? Only difference is graphics processor.

27" iMac with i7 8GB, 1TB fusion is $2,450.

MacMini + 27" monitor ($340) is about $1,640. $800 savings.

Seems like the macMini is the better deal in both situations, except for the graphics.

If you don't game on it, maybe the mini is the way to go?

Does Photoshop of FCP really need the graphics processor? I would things like video rendering are not pushed off much to the GPU?

Thoughts?

There are a lot of threads already about this. The on board graphics on the Mini + a 27" monitor will suck. Someone on the Mac Mini forum said that they had lag on the screensaver.
