iMac + Powerbook vs. (next gen.)Macbook pro

I've waited for about 3 months for the mbp update, but then i saw the prices on the old powerbooks and wondered if it would be smarter to just buy one of those (12" or 15") for school, and an iMac as desktop.

It will be the same price.

Are there anything that i should know if i buy an old powerbook? Is the 12" as heavy as the MBP 15"? And are the PB 15" much heavier than the 15" MBP? I also noticed that PB doesn't have a webcam build-in.

Btw the price will be (in US dollar): 2764.56 $ which is the same price the low-end MBP is in Denmark !

For one the PB, as you said, is old. Plus, for their performance they are quite expensive.
I would say buy something that's worth the money.

If you don't play games, all you need is a macbook and a good quality lcd screen to use it an home.

Even if you definitely need a graphics chip in there, wait for the new MBPs rumored to come in a couple of weeks..

Otherwise, you'll end up endlessly syncing between 2 machines and i can tell you it's not the best to spend your time for...

The 15" Powerbooks are .3 lbs heavier than the 15" Macbook Pros.

15" PB 5.7lbs
12" PB 4.6lbs
