Anybody else using an LG 5K with their iMac Pro? I don't always need to use it so I'm finding it irritating (first world problem!) to have to plug and unplug the cable round the back as there is no off switch. If I leave on all the time, I'm worried about screen burn.

I've tried Switch Res X but that just causes the iMac and LG to go blank. Is there any software solution that anybody can suggest?

Failing that I was wondering if there was a suitable dock that could sit between the iMac and LG, so at least I could plug and unplug from the front? (With the likely benefit of also having some extra USB A & C ports/card reader at the front too.)

Kind of asked this before but just thought about the dock option. Although I'm not going to spend silly money on a 'trivial' issue. Would welcome any thoughts.

EDIT: Misunderstood.

In Windows you can select to "Display only on Display 1", for example - I sold my UltraFines earlier in the year but I am sure there was an option in macOS somewhere. I will research it and get back to you.
[doublepost=1515001941][/doublepost]I thought SwitchResX had an option to disable an external display without disabling the internal display.

But if not, you could could try: https://github.com/Eun/DisableMonitor/releases

Or you could just put the brightness on the LG to minimum (Control + Brightness keys is a good shortcut for this).

The dock idea you had would cost at least a couple of hundred pounds.

Or you could just ignore it and not worry about the burn in. Especially if you have a solid colour wallpaper. :)

Thanks! Tried Disable Monitor and that made my LG look like the graphics card has busted! Didn't know the brightness shortcut, that's cool. Ahhh, I could have an all white wallpaper and lower brightness I guess.

I love simplicity but an off switch wouldn't have upset anybody!

I would imagine the issue with the LG freaking out is that it is actually two screens/display feeds that macOS is spoofing as one, so perhaps SwitchResX only disables one and thus the distortion.
