As far as I know, the iMacs on Amazon.com only come with Magic Mice. Has anyone had luck taking the new/unopened Magic Mouse to the Apple store and exchanging it for a Magic Trackpad?

i bought my iMac online at apple refurbished, took my mouse to apple store and was honest, told em i really wanted trackpad, so they were nice enough to take my magic mouse and gave me a new in box trackpad. (i since returned it and got a magic mouse instead, didn't really like trackpad, but thats a different topic!) I think it depends on the person you deal with, and your attitude. be nice, nice things happen :)

I assumed no on this and am in the same boat of wanting to swap my Magic Mouse with a Magic Trackpad.

Already have a prior Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad but don't care for the Magic Mouse at all and could use an additional Magic Trackpad.

If you try doing this and have success, please do update letting us/me know.

It probably depends on which apple store u goto but like the other person said if your honest and tell them the truth it can't hurt . I picked up my iMac 27" on Friday and bought the trackpad separately from best but it's such an awesome accessory being as it is a blown up MacBook trackpad it works flawlessly and is super responsive and much more comfortable for me considering i don't have a desk At the moment

It worked!

I just took my Magic Mouse over to the local Apple store on lunch and was just straight up and honest about it.

Said I bought my iMac online and was wondering if they would be able to swap the Magic Mouse for the Trackpad.

They asked for my receipt and I clarified that it was from Amazon.

They said they can still do it but basically had to treat it as a return without receipt on their end and then used what would of been store credit to pay for the Trackpad.

I did speak with the manager and she in turn called a "specialist" who took care of the rest.

At no point did they seem like they couldn't or shouldn't do it.

If anyone else wants to do it, just go and be honest and polite about it.
