I recently purchased an iMac. When using Quick Look on videos, it works...for a while.
Maybe for a few days. Then I get the message: "An error occurred with the preview of this document". It will work if I reboot the computer. This is happening over and over again. I've tried deleting/rebuilding the cache, but it doesn't help. Any idea(s)? Thank you.

Never heard of that problem.

I've never had a problem like that from Quick Look from all my years of using it.

Are you running off an HDD?

I found this on the net

First, try running a permissions fix on the boot drive using Disk Utility to ensure that the Quick Look plug-ins and other files the Quick Look server needs are properly accessible.

Then force Quick Look to reload the plug-ins and its cache by running the following commands in the Terminal:

qlmanage -r
qlmanage -r cache

I've tried it on files running off both externals and local drives.

I've tried running a permissions repair and have run that command as well, but it still happens.
