imac remembers nothing

Hi

My imac will not remember/log passwords (eg. for skype, itunes) bookmarks (on safari). Its as if it has dementia.

Also i cannot delete any ical calendar reminders and it constantly comes up on screen. I even deleted the programme but with no joy.

Any advice?

Processor 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo
version 10.5.8
