iMac Rev.A, OS 8.6 and IRDA

I've just found an iMac Rev.A in a rubbish skip, and have got it running nicely on OS 8.6. However, one thing puzzles me. I can't get IR to work properly. If I open the IR control panel, it can see my PalmPilot and my Dell (Hell) laptop, but it won't accept file transfers, and if I open the IR file transfer program, it asks me to click on the "Options" button in the IR control panel, which definitely does not exist in the version that I have. If it makes any difference, I've got IR control panel version 1.2. Thanks.
