iMac Rhythmic Buzzing while playing DVDs

So I made the mistake of putting a disc in while my iMac was asleep, well when I did it woke up the iMac and they drive took the disc rather violently and started making a harsh buzz two or three times and now while playing anything it buzzes every 10 seconds like the cd is off balance, My warranty ends in 30 days the nearest Apple Store is 4 Hours away and Apple doesn't ship iMacs back and forth and there are no Apple certified technicians here in El Paso TX. Can I fix this myself or should I beg Apple to ship it back to them?
