while i always want a portable first, for some reason id like to have a desktop eventually. after i graduate, i might have both.
Since Apple no longer reports desktop sales per product line, it's difficult to say.

Here are the numbers from the last quarterly report (Q1 2007):
Desktops: 637K Units
Portables: 969K Units
