I planning to purchase a Imac 24" off the apple store instead of going into to a store miles away and i was thinking if i choose the option wireless keyboard and mouse as it is cheaper than buying it separately at a later date. I was wondering if you can connect the :apple: wireless keyboard and mouse to the imac before you set up so i don't have to go out or borrow/buy a wired USB keyboard and mouse?

Cheers,
Hope that makes sense

Yes, you can. Part of the initial setup is a graphic showing you where to put the batteries in your mouse and turn it on so it can pair with the iMac.

Pretty cool, really.

OP, note that with the BT KB you do not get a numeric keypad.
To answer your question, no you do not need a standard KB & mouse to initially set up your iMac. Just follow the setup instructions that come in the box.
