Hi all

I know there are a few threads about this issue, i noticed last night that i too am having the same problem - no smokers in my house or anything to pin it on.

Just wondered if anyone has had their imacs sorted? I bought mine from John Lewis in the UK, so think ill be taking it back to see what they say.

is it a fixable problem, or does it mean a new imac?

The problem is certainly fixable. In most cases Apple will simply replace the display. There are some reports of people getting denied a replacement as Apple sometimes blames the issue on "environmental causes". It appears Apple China refuses all warranty repairs claiming China is too dusty for iMacs. In the US and Europe they usually don't give you a hard time.

Judging from the many threads on this issue all over the web, it does seem that in most cases the smudges will eventually return, sometimes after weeks, sometimes after months.

So while the problem is fixable, there appears to be no permanent solution at this point.
