Hello I am new be kind, I just bought the new Imac M4 16 gb Sequoia 15.0 to replace my 2009 Imac because Mac has considered it obsolete so it cannot be updated to work with my online banking. The music on my old Mac with my external speaker system was very good but with all my music transferred to the new unit using my same external speakers is flat and dull. I placed both units side by side and played the same song swapping the speakers and it is night and day. Called Mac support and they have not heard of this issue although the person was very helpful and went to their supervisor. I do not use the Mac speakers as I find they are not that good like TV speakers. I think for $2000 the sound output should be better than a cheap stereo, has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks

Are you hooking these speakers up the exact same way? Same cable, same connection type, etc?

Have you compared audio settings to be sure they match?

Anything special about the speakers? For example, if they have a wireless sub, do you have bluetooth on to facilitate using it?

Are there any audio modes for these speakers that may need to be reset when they are connected to a new computer?

Can you hook them to a third computer (work maybe) or maybe an iPad/iPhone to see if they also sound lessor than the old 2009?

It shouldn't sound worse, so I would do some solid detective work to narrow in on a cause.

Could be something with the way the new iMac handles audio processing—maybe different hardware or software tuning. Have you checked Audio MIDI Setup to see if the sample rate is different? Also, if you’re using USB for audio, try the headphone jack instead (or vice versa) and see if that changes anything.

Apple does tweak things between models, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the sound is processed differently. Annoying that Apple support hasn’t heard of it, but you’re definitely not the only one noticing weird audio differences.
