Hi, all. I have a 27-inch iMac (Late 2009) 3.06 Core 2 duo and my SuperDrive is being VERY picky with the discs it will mount.

Some of the discs have minor scratches on them, but others, like my BioShock 1 game disc are in PRISTINE condition. Even discs it used to take are now being rejected and ejected.

Almost NONE of my Simpsons DVDs will mount. Most of them are in very good shape, too.

I am quite fed up with this problem. I am considering purchasing a USB or FireWire external DVD-ROM drive, but before I go out and spend money, I want to know if there are some fixes that I can try.

I have researched this issue and found that MANY people have issues with these slot-loading drives.

I appreciate ANY assistance!!!

Thank you! :)

Is that refuse to mount automatically when you put the CD in the drive? Have you tried mounting them with Disk Utility? Certain music CDs would start to mount and then disappear. I could get them to mount ok with the Disk Utility.
