So has anyone determined exactly what type of tape is being used in the new iMac?

Is this stuff actually the right tape?

Its definitely not the same as the original tape but it works very well. It won't pass for the original if you are taking your imac in for warranty work.

Yeah, I thought about that, but really, how would that work: something goes wrong on your iMac so you open it up again and take change everything back to the way it was when you bought it? After all, the whole point of opening the machine in the first place is to make changes from the original settings.

Not that I'm saying that finding the exact same tape is insignificant: I hope we can find the same tape that Apple used, I'm just saying that people open their iMacs to change them and these changes void the warranty more than just cutting through the tape.
