I just purchased all the cables and what not so I could run my 2007 28" iMac (10.6.8) to my 1080i TV. I bought HDMI cable which is running into HDMI 1 on my tv, and a mini-dvi to HDMI adapter.

Now here's where the problem arises. It won't detect the TV at all, and the TV won't detect the computer. I go into syst. preferences and try detecting a monitor and nothing, I tried all the different resolutions and nothing. It's only giving me the options of display and color, I haven't seen an arrangement panel like I have on the forums.

I just purchased all the cables from monoprice, could it be the adapter is bad even though new? The HDMI port is fine because it was running my apple tv beforehand just fine.

Any thoughts? Do I have to use a mini displayport instead of the mini-dvi?

Are you absolutely certain it is a 28" 2007 iMac? Maybe it is a 27" 2008 model?
