Just ordered a 2017 MBP 15.4" TB with 3.1 i7, 1TB SSD, should be arriving in a few hours here. Currently have a 2017 iMac BTO with the 4.2 i7, 1 TB SSD and 24GB RAM.

I am planning to replace the iMac with the MBP. This was inspired by my employer providing me a 34" monitor for my work MBP. Both the new monitor and iMac won't fit on my desk, so I thought I could go to a MBP and run both Macs off of the monitor.

Obviously the MBP would provide portability, although I am an avid iPad user and probably wouldn't need to take the MBP anywhere. Would be nice do some of the desktop stuff from the comfort of my couch from time to time, but other than that I don't think the portability factor is important.

Pros/Cons/Opinions? I could always just throw the new monitor in the closet and keep my current setup...just a work asset that isn't mine anyway.
