I'm still trying to decide on my first Mac... Either, I'll wait for the expo and get a hopefully new and improved PowerBook or I'll jump on the student discount (could always use another iPod) and get a iMac 17" 2Ghz w/1gig RAM.
One of my main desires is to project whichever Mac I get on my new 50" Samsung DLP. I don't NEED the portability of a PB so the iMac appeals to me (both price and power) but I'm concerned about the connections. I know the PB will have a DVI but the iMac has a "Mini VGA" (whatever that is). Has anyone hooked up a big screen HDTV with the MiniVGA output on the iMac? How does it work?
I'm driving myself nuts over here trying to make the right decision. All the years of PC use have gotten me used to being able to do whatever I want with the hardware configuration. I understand why Apple is restrictive with regard to hardware and am willing to do whatever it takes to say goodbye to the viruses, spyware, adware, BSOD, etc.
