Imac upgrade and FCP7

Hi

I currently own an Imac, version tiger os x 10.4.11, processor 1.83 Ghz Intel core duo, 2gb ram with Final cut pro 5, which i purchased roughly 2 years ago.

As i wish to upgrade to Final cut pro 7 i now find that my present imac version is under spec. Does this mean that i now have to purchase a new imac in order to upgrade?
