iMac User Account isn't working - other user account are

5 yr old iMac. When I open my user account, the screen pops up with the icons, however, the Finder begins blinking. I can open most applications with my mouse, but once I type with the keyboard, the application closes. I have backed up most of the files, but have lost email address, and emails. I'd like to gain access back into that user to get old info. Any suggestions?

Yeah dunno. Try safe boot or something. Or enable some kind of super root user and just transfer the files across manually.
