iMac vs MacBook Pro

Which is the better computer? portability is not an issue...
This would mainly be used for video editing.

MacBook Pro:

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
320GB Serial ATA @ 7200
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB

iMac:

3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1.0TB Serial ATA Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 256MB

if portability isn't a selling point, the iMac is the better option.. Not only will be be about $150 cheaper, you're getting a HD thats almost 3x the size (and same speed, 7200prm), a much larger screen, faster processor and better video.

For roughly the same money as you'd spend on the MacBook pro you could ge the top of the line iMac and improve the graphics card to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512MB.

It comes down to how you'll use it.. If you're really doing high end video editting you might want to consider a Mac Pro.. I have a MacBook Pro (early '08 version w/ the 2.5Ghz CPU) and for the basic stuff I do in iMovie its perfect... Both of the machines you posted would be better than that.
