iMac vs. Macbook referbs

I'm debating on buying a referbished iMac 20" or white macbook

is there any downside of this? if so tell me why i should spend the extra 100$ or 200$.

also i understand in january there is a very good chance of a new imac coming out, should i wait untill then to see if the price of the current imac drops? and what is the date of that convention exactly?

If you don't need the portability get the iMac, it will hold up better over time, and has more power. If you need something to take with you everywhere get the MacBook. Also, people are expecting speed bumps to the iMacs in January, so you might want to wait and you could get a new one or one of the current ones on clearance, which is better than a refurb.
