I installed Snow Leopard successfully earlier today, and was getting very slow transfer speeds to an external drive over FW400. So I tried various things people suggested on an apple discussion board, one of which was to replace some of the files in System/Extensions.
Big mistake. Now I get a big time kernal panic a few seconds after turning it on. Ive tried doing the initial boot from the Snow Leopard DVD, then running Disk Utility to repair the disk and permissions, but this hasnt helped.
If I re-install Snow Leopard, will it automatically do an archive and install? Will my files/programs be safe?
Any advice would be gratefully received!
