A co-worker put the batteries in completely backwards into her wireless keyboard. She did not connect it to the computer right away, went away for a day, came back and the batteries had leaked acid inside the keyboard and got stuck inside. Not sure if it still works - we're still trying to get the batteries out.

Anyone else have this happen? What can she do? It is under warranty still, but I don't know if apple would consider it her fault because the batteries were put in backwards.

Sometimes you can clean up the mess with q-tips and alcohol. It would depend on whether the batteries are below the electronics or above. I don't remember the setup offhand, but if the batteries are on the bottom of the keyboard with just the access panel below it, you may be able to save it.

Apple won't replace something you break.
