imac with broken graphics card

I have a 2008 imac which Apple have diagnosed needs a new graphics card. I'd like to sell it for spares/repair. Does anyone know if there's a way to restore the imac to factory settings even though I can't get any picture on it? Thanks

try putting it into target disk mode (hold down T when turning it on), hook to another mac via firewire, and do a reinstall or wipe from the other machine.
