iMac won't boot - sounding alarm

While I was watching a video clip, my mac made a horrible, loud static-type noise. Then the screen was frozen and the neither the keyboard, nor the mouse or trackpad worked. I turned the mac off. Now when I turn it back on, I just hear an alarm 3 times, and it won't boot.

What's happening???

Bad RAM maybe?

I'm no expert but could it be bad RAM?

Yep, seems like bad RAM.

Depending on your model and when you bought it, you can contact Apple or Gravis or Cyberport to give you replacement RAM or help you finding new compatible RAM for you to buy and put into the Mac.

First, try removing the RAM and reinstall it firmly to be sure it's seated securely.

Thanks to everyone for the advise. It was bad RAM. Took it out and istalled new. I am back up and running and no data was lost!
