I recently purchased a 2.0GHz T5750 CPU from eBay and upon disassembling and reassembling the iMac with the new CPU, to the point of which it should boot, the white LED turns on when I press the power button, and about a half second later, it turns off. That's all that happens. Anyone have any idea what could be happening?

Are you sure you reconnected everything properly?

Yes, though there's really not much to connect that is vital to the computer on the front side of the logic board, but yes it was connected properly at one point and still did the same thing.

I replaced the old CPU and now it works again, so that was the problem!

the same thing happened with me, i tried to install a core 2 duo T7500 and when i switched it on, the light would come and then the imac would shutdown.

After putting my old core duo cpu back in, everything was fine. i might try the t7200 which has 667mhz fsb, same as the core duo in my imac. The t7500 has 800mhz so thats why i think it didn't work
