iMac won't go to sleep - opt+cmd+eject

when i hit option command and eject the imac screen goes dark then the computer wakes right away....when i manually hit the apple icon and click the sleep button...it does not wake and stays asleep...help!!! why is this happening i always used the keyboard shortcut before without issues

anyone??? i haven't done a restart of the computer yet, i'll do it when i get home today..maybe that will help it but if u have any ideas please chime in

I have the same thing. Sometimes, the iMac immediately wakes after cmd-option-eject. When I press cmd-option-eject again it mostly stays asleep. Via the menu by Apple-Sleep always puts the iMac permanent to sleep.

So it looks like there is a difference between Apple-Sleep (menu) and cmd-option-eject.

By the way, as far as I remember the key-combination cmd-option-eject was always mentioned in the menu, but not now anymore. This is since Lion?
