I can't get my 17" iMac to reboot in any mode. I ran System Optimizer X then System Update. Here's where I was stupid. System Update came up with 4 things that needed updating - JAVA, iTunes, something else and 10.4.3 to 10.4.4. One of the updates gave me an error and said try again. I can't remember which one it was but when I tried to restart, I got nothing. I get the grey Apple logo but not progress wheel. Once I was able to boot from my external drive but now that doesn't work either. I can't start up from the OSX DVD, nor in single user mode. I can start it up in Firewire Target mode but when I try to run Data Rescue II, Disk Warrior or Tech Tools from another Mac, it hangs up.

Does anyone know of anything else I can try?
