Hi guys,

I'm running Sierra from an external SSD, and when I try do shut it down, the top bar disappears, desktop icons disappear, but nothing else happens.

Finder says APPLICATION NOT RESPONDING, I can't relaunch it or Quit the process. I eventually have to press the button to switch it off.

I tried Time machine to revert to an earlier date, but it says it can't change system settings because they are in use.

What can I do?
Thanks
