I’m running a trial version of Roon Labs audio library. It requires me to run it on a network and feeds my streamer over Wi-Fi. Problem is every 30 mins the server gets disconnected when the iMac throws up a wiggly line screensaver and requires my password. I’ve turned off all the stuff in system settings but it won’t play ball. It’s Catalina and I have an external SSD. Where might the 30 minute inactivity lockout be? On the SSD perhaps?

I know you said you changed settings already so I am not entirely sure if your problem at this point is with the software or with your Mac lock and sleep settings. Have you tried the following in System Preferences?
  • Under "Energy Saver" preferences, set the first slider, "Computer sleep" to the rightmost value, "never" so that even when the display is off the computer should be running things.
  • I don't know if your SSD is your boot drive or one to store files, but if the disk disconnecting seems to be interfering, on the same screen you could deselect "Put hard disks to sleep when possible".
  • Under "Security and Privacy" settings, you can deselct "Require password ____ minutes after sleep or screensaver begins" to prevent the iMac from locking.
Good luck, and hope this helps!
