Hi everyone,

My friend has a iMac M1 8-Core CPU and 7-Core GPU 24" (Early 2021) 256GB SSD.
The iMac went black while in use and now won't turn back on.
He's tried most of the troubleshooting you can find online - like hard reset, etc
I haven't messed around with that particular iMac -
Is it most likely the power supply going back or something worse like a logic board.
And is there anything else they can try outside of what you find when you google 'iMac won't turn on"

thanks

Sometimes, the problem is "simple" but not "obvious". This may or may not apply to your friend's current situation, but it's always worth checking a few simple things, just in case.

That said: first, check that the power outlet has power. (Yes, really. You might be surprised how many tech support stories boil down to a tripped breaker or a power strip that's turned off.) Next, disconnect all peripherals, unplug the Mac for ten seconds, and then plug just the power cord back in. Hit the power button.

Note that a Mac which has been muted may not chime when it boots up, and a Mac with the brightness all the way down may not display anything on the screen... but when you plug a USB optical mouse into it, does the mouse light up underneath? When you plug in a USB keyboard and tap the Caps Lock key repeatedly, does the Caps Lock light blink off and on?

Check these things first, before committing to an Apple Store visit.

Point of order:
There is no "2021" iMac.
There IS a 2020 iMac, which is what your friend has.

Yea there is.

Ah, ok, thanks for the correction, curnal.
I was still "locked back in the Intel world"...
