my imac is running snow leopard i usually will click the menu bar and select sleep. i know it is still on because the fan is still running. normally it will wake back up with push on the the keyboard, occasionally it will not wake up, so my next resort is to press the power button once sometimes this will work, if not i am forced to hold the power button and restart it, when it turns on a message appears and says "You shut down your computer because of a problem, would you like to send it to apple". any advice because this is becoming quite annoying

What applications, if any, are running when you put the system to sleep? When the computer goes to sleep it has to cache all the processes and active data to the RAM. If it can't complete this process, it will not wake from sleep correctly. Has that software been updated/upgraded to work with 10.6? And have you updated to 10.6.1?

yes i have upgraded to 10.6.1
the only things that should have been running are safari, mail
possibly preview, iphoto, quicktime
the only thing that might have been running that is not apple is viewnx
but the only things I know were running were mail and safari

i doubt that the hd is dying
i got it in the beginning of june
