Hi All

2007 20" Aluminium iMac wouldn't startup today
have tried a different cable which I know its working but still nothing

Any ideas - if its the power supply is this expensive to replace?

So you are getting nothing? No noises, nothing on the screen? First, make sure the outlet it is plugged into has power.

Yep nothing ,,,, no sound , can't feel the drive starting - socket is live (power)
 
It happens, 5 years use is reasonable. If nothing works it might be time to lay it to rest and purchase a new one.

You could always bring in to an Apple Store and get a price quote for service.

As a reminder, even if the Mac is dead, as long as the hard drive still works, you can get an appropriate external case for the drive if you need to recover data from it. Although hopefully you have a current backup just in case.
