Image autoresizing problem

Hi,

I don't know if I did anything or why my MBP OSX v10.6 is doing this,
but when I drag an image onto a blank disk (with more than enough space) or attach it to my mail, it will automatically re-size it from (e.g.) 2MB to 250Kb. The problem is that I need the higher resolution pictures to send to clients etc. I don't know why it's doing this and I can't seem to find a way around it.

Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.
