I have a late 2009 iMac with 4GB Memory. It is getting increasingly slower to process, browse and open folders. At first I thought it was Aperture (which is chronically slow to open and work on the images).

However, when I open up the Activity Monitor, I notice that Image Capture Extension is using 10.86GB of Memory.

Is it this Extension that causes the machine to go slow (even with Aperture closed down)? How can I close the extension? Do I need it open for any other tasks?

Will putting extra Ram into the machine help? (My hard drive is still 25% free)
