My 5 year old iMac has been serving me pretty well, up until today. I hooked up my digital camera via USB as I always do...but found that "Image Capture" is gone!

I looked in the hard drive, found Image Capture, but not one thing happened...

I am confused...hhmmmm

I'd restart your computer first. Also, did you install any updates? That might have changed things a bit.

If you still have the app then either a setting was changed so it isn't set to auto start when you plug in the camera or something that results in a similar effect. If you launch Image Capture you should still be able to use it unless your camera is broken or otherwise not communicating with the computer (connection issue). If it turns out to be the setting issue you can check the auto launch preference in the Image Capture > Preferences window.
