Image Capture importing More Than All!

Image Capture on iMac says 9000 images on iPhone. Select destination folder to USB stick. On destination folder, I can see the import keeps going and surpasses the original 9000 mark from Image Capture, and keeps copying copying I dunno what.

How can more than 9000 items be copied if Image Capture only says there are 9000? Thanks.
