I don't know whats wrong, as this has never happened before. I've always used image capture to take the movies off my Canon s230, and iPhoto to get the pictures. This has worked for the entire ownership of my computer (12" powerbook) and my camera.
Right now, however, it's not working. iPhoto gets the pictures fine, but I can't get the movies off the camera. There are 4 long movies (2+ minutes each) on the memory card, and I can watch them on the camera's LCD. I'll connect the camera to the computer and start image capture. The movies show up in the window.
I'll select one for download, and the download finishes immediately, followed by a few second wait period, then opens up the finder to the downloaded location. (so far everything seems ok, except for the fact that a 50MB movie was just downloaded via USB1.1 in virtually no time). when I try to open the movie, quicktime just hangs with the beachball (or if i select the movie in the finder while in column/preview mode, the finder hangs in a similar fashion.) I then look at image capture, and it thinks everything is fine and dandy, ready to download another. Then I check the camera and the LED indicating memory read/write is still blinking. It seems to me no data is getting brought down.
I tried again, retracing these steps except during the download and "wait period" mentioned above, I push the arrow key on the camera to view the next image on the LCD. Once that completed, the LED stopped blinking, even though the video was still incomplete.
So I tried a third time, deleting the files image capture downloaded, and starting over, to no avail.

does anyone have any clue what is happening?
