hi,

a question to the image pro's:

we all have seen the tv shows where the detective has a fuzzy, bad, low res video still. some expert uses a special software (mentioning that he has got it from NASA) and zooms in, sharpens the image and suddenly we can read the murderers name on his jacket.

since it's shown on TV it must be true. :D

you can do something in photoshop, but it usually just smoothes the image. you don't really get more information or quality.
looking at some of the space pictures there must be some way to improve image quality. but they usually have multiple exposures to make overlays. so i guess starting from jpeg won't work anyway.

is something like this possible (within reason) and is there a software tool to really improve image quality for the mac? preferably freeware/shareware?
