I was using the public beta of 18.2 on my iPad and already have a bunch of images in the Image Playground app. Since updating to the official 18.2 release when I launch Image Playground I can see my existing images but any time I try to create a new image or edit an existing one I get stuck on a black screen that says “Downloading Support for Image Playground… Once downloaded this iPad will be able to use Image Playground”. I left it for a couple hours on that screen last night, unlocked, plugged in, on WiFi, but if it’s doing anything, it’s still never finished.

I saw some troubleshooting recommend deleting and reinstalling the Image Playground to fix this, but will I lose my existing images? Or does anyone know another way to force this download to complete?

They are stored in your iCloud (assuming you have that toggled on in your iCloud settings).
Thanks, I should’ve thought to check there.

I deleted Image Playground, reinstalled, and it still sent me to the “Downloading Support…” screen when I first relaunched it yesterday evening. I didn’t spend any time troubleshooting but it now works this morning.

Can’t say for certain whether the reinstall was what made the difference or just some other quirk that kept it from completing that background download until today, but it’s working now and my previous images are all there.
