Images folder in Finder

hey guys, you know in finder there is a folder called images in the sidebar? I have like images from there that I haven't seen in years.. even before I have had a macbook... what exactly does this do? How do I get rid of these images because they take up a lot of room and I dont even look at them..

all of these images have never been moved onto my macbook.. i dunno how they got there (macbook noob <---) so yeah.. what is this lol
