Hello,

I have a Macintosh Classic that I would like to use with a ImageWriter.

To get to the point, can a ImageWriter be customized to a specific form?

I am currently bankrupt right now, that is why I cant afford a new $600 printer. I can get an ImageWriter fairly cheap and happen to have a Macintosh Classic! So that could possibly be my solution?

Thanks for any advice ahead of time!

Not sure what form for which you are trying to customize the printer.

It's more about arranging the text on the screen to match where you want it to print. You can do it with pretty much any printer.

Unless you need to print multi-part forms, I would recommend a StyleWriter of some sort. They're available on eBay for cheap and you get 300 dpi print quality instead of 72 dpi.

They are documents and they are they type that require you to press down when writing so that copies are made. (Multi-Part?) So I am just aranging text on the screen? I guess it Is kind of trial and error?

Sorry, I just read my bad grammer, I am in a car typing on an iPhone

Yes, those are multi-part forms. Basically, if you have a ruler and a word processor (or a desktop publishing app like PageMaker) on your Classic you slice up the document to match the spacing on the form.

It seems that you won't accept "Yes" as an answer. To clarify:
  • You want to complete multipart forms, which can be done only by an impact printer [of which the ImageWriter II is an example].
  • An ImageWriter II simply puts dots of ink on a page. It cannot be "customerized" to a specific form or any other document. You need an application to tell the printer where to place the dots of ink.
  • PageMaker, MacDraw, Microsoft Word, to name a few will do. You may even use a custom forms-generation/completion app, but it is not required.

Thank you for your help. It was a simple misunderstanding sir...
