iMail help please!

Here's my problem. Ever since my .Mac account ran out i haven't been able to use it for anything but i think thats because the "Account Type" was ".Mac". I've deleted that account now but i'm having trouble creating a new one.
Few questions i've got.
1.Do i use POP or IMAP?
2.What do i put in the box "Incoming mail server" and the "Outgoing Mail Server" when creating the new account?
3.Is it possible to re-direct my hotmail account into iMail, i done it with my uni account last year.

Thats about it. This problem has ben bugging me for a long time and i really miss it, the Hotmail page is hideous. Plese help me.

as far as i know, hotmail is incompatible with apple's mail.app. i use google's gmail (pop access) with my mail.app as well as yahoo! mail, though i pay $20/yr for yahoo pop access. you can find instructions for configuring gmail with the mail.app here.

so could i re-drect my mail to gmail then re-direct it from gmail t iMail...i'd like to stay with hotmail as everyone has my hotmail address.
