imap Gmail for iphone does not PUSH?

My emails are not pushed to me, instead i have to go into my inbox and then emails are downloaded. so not only does imap gmail not work, the email does not check for email once every 1 hour like i have checked.

are other iphone imap gmail users experiencing the same thing? is this imap gmail only working as a convenient way of syncing gmail on the iphone and on the web or whaT?

Mine doesn't push (AFAIK, only Yahoo does push), but it does get included in my hourly checks. Not sure what to suggest, other than maybe restarting the phone?

mine checks every 15 minutes and I see the number of unread email on the home screen
