I', trying to set up iMap Gmail on my iPhone and Apple mail, I've concluded its as close to push as I can get right now. But now Apple Mail is downloading all 12000 emails that I've ever sent!! Why?! Are these messages being stored on my computer!? What can I do?!

imap gmail on Apple Mail downloading all of my past email!?

I read a solution online about typing "inbox" in the IMAP path setting in mail.app prefs. Then it only stores your gmail inbox on your computer and iPhone which is working great for me right now.
