So Google just started doing IMAP for gmail. I've been a huge user of their free POP access, so I figured I'd switch over to IMAP.

But Mail seems to be acting a little strange. Does Mail actually download messages with IMAP to my computer? And once a message is in my inbox and I read it, does it get marked as unread on gmail.com?

All my mail is IMAP and I use Mail.app for it - it should keep a cache of the email it gets from the server - sort of downloading but not quite - and all changes (message replied to, read, deleted, forwarded etc.) should be reported back up to the mail server.

I suppose it depends on Google's IMAP implementation, but I would have thought it would support all that..
