Hi.

I have an iPhone4 with iOS5 on a preserved baseband 04.10.01 using Gevey Sim.

My problem is when I turn on iMessage it says:
Activation Unsuccessful.
Turn on iMessage to try again.

I turn it off and back on and still have same problem.

I am still able to receive imessages with my email though.
Not through my phone number.
Also i cant imessage someone with their email untill they write me themselves, which is weird. I can message someone to their number though, just not their email.

Any info or help?

Thanks

Be on an official carrier.

What does that mean? What is an "official carrier"? I'm in China on China Unicom, which I presume is an "official carrier" since they sell the iPhone 4 here on contract. I have this problem also. Actually, if you check Twitter, you'll see quite some people who have this problem.

It's killing me. My FaceTime and iMessage both won't activate. I have a normal factory-unlocked iPhone 4 bought at full price directly from Apple, and haven't done anything but upgrade to iOS5. I've tried to reinstall twice, once restoring from backup, and once fresh. Nothing is working to fix this.

Actually, I should mention that I have THREE iPhone 4s (wife, daughter, me), and they all have exactly the same problem.

Settings>TWi-Fi>Tap on the arrow next to your wifi network>Tap on DNS>Replace the DNS address with 8.8.8.8

Change back to what settings you had previously after successfully activating.
